Desktop Penguin Devlog #4 — Planning Big Future Features

Hey everyone, it’s Max.

I wanted to share what I’ve been thinking about for Desktop Penguin’s future.

There are some pretty cool ideas that could change how your Penguin friend acts and plays around on your desktop. For starters, I’ve been looking into making it work on MacOS. Absolutely no one has asked for that yet but it seems like a nice addition ;D

Challenges of MacOS Support

It’s not easy because a lot of the Penguin’s stuff depends on Windows-only tricks and frameworks, so it means reworking a lot of things. But if I can pull it off, more people will get to enjoy the chaos.

Introducing Penguin Actions (mods)

Another thing I’m really excited about is “Penguin Actions.” The idea is to make it super easy to add new actions, animations, or pranks just by dropping a file into a folder. So instead of me having to build everything, you or the community could make new stuff and share it. That way, the Penguin keeps surprising you without waiting for updates. (Basically plugin support in form of .waddle files)

Looking Ahead

None of this is set in stone or done yet, it's just a preview of what the distant future might bring. I wanted to be open about where I’m headed so if you have ideas or worries, let me know. It really helps me figure out what to focus on next.

Next update (v1.0.3)

I haven’t already started development for v.1.0.3 but you can expect this update to come in the next few weeks/months. Version 1.0.3 will (most likely) include: Party horns (Penguin randomly troots into a party horn), Falling (Penguin randomly falls over something), and more memes/notes.

Thanks for reading and supporting Desktop Penguin.
